...and we call ourselves creatives

What's that all about? Somehow we've managed to cop ourselves a cool ass title. "Oh, those guys with their feet up on their desk and the funky attitudes, they are the 'creatives'. Don't go in there, they're working." It gives us miles of leeway attitudinally, fashion wise and professionally. We've made this adjective a noun. And now that is has become a "person place or thing" we can officially abuse the hell out of it. Most of us are not the uber fashionistas (somehow above fashion) and design mavens we consider ourselves to be. Many can't even begin to contemplate starting something new or pushing our own boundries even a little. Create is a verb, it's something you do, not something you label yourself with or hide behind. It's relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas in the production of something. We have to begin to honor the definition... Or maybe not, we can just use our title of "creative" to mean nothing. Hey wait a minute... someone came up with the idea to use the word creative and apply it to a moody person in an all-season black turtle neck. I'm not sure but I think that was kind of creative. You kidders.

Leroy Jenkins, pretty hoody.

Some of you may know of a small and upcoming brand known as Leroy Jenkins. Building it’s reputation on mix and match hoodies, you can often recognize a Leroy Jenkins hoodie by it’s flashy conbinations of florals, paisleys, polka dots, houndstooth and other wild and lovely patterns. The owners are Ron J and Upendo. www.leroyalwithcheez.net

$20,000 and all you get is one wheel

But it's one hell of a wheel. The 20 G suitcase is incredible--arguably the finest in the world. What would you expect? "I'd expect $19,000 change," quipped one cynic as the revolutionary (and immensely costly) Henk suitcase was unveiled. Its engineering elegant. Each case consists of 500 separate parts (more than 22 of them moving), fashioned variously from red Italian burl, black ebony, horse hair, magnesium, aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber, parachute fabric and the finest leathers. Its mechanisms are smooth, ingenious. Depress an ebony button on the handle, pull up the handle, and two 6 1/4" diameter wheels emerge noiselessly from louvered doors within the case, like landing gear emerging from an airplane. When fully deployed, these sit 10 1/4" off centerline, giving the case so fine a balance that, when pulled, it feels almost weightless.
